Irene B. Gansworth, 99, a former Tuscarora Indian Reservation resident and a member of the Bear Clan of the Six Nations of New York, died Wednesday (Oct. 1, 1997) at her home in Rockledge, Fla., after a brief illness.

The former Irene Williams, born in Niagara Falls, moved to Florida in 1990 from the Tuscarora Reservation.

Mrs. Gansworth worked in the Philadelphia Navy Yard for 12 years, starting during World War II. She sewed shroud lines for parachutes.

She had been a member of Tuscarora Baptist Church and enjoyed flowers, gardening and sewing.

Her husband, Elmer G. Sr., died in 1974.

Mrs. Gansworth is survived by two sons, Raymond P. and Vincent H., both of Levittown, Pa.; a daughter, Lorraine G. Zecman of Merritt Island, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Tuscarora Baptist Church on Mount Hope Road on the Tuscarora Reservation. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.[nfschr]
