The latest blunder the Buffalo Sabres organization pulled, trading Pat LaFontaine, I hope will be the last. Somebody in the organization needs to wake up. It is clear to me, and should be to most Sabre fans, that hard work, dedication and community service mean nothing to the higher-ups. Trading a guy who got hurt giving 100 percent on the ice and is an icon to the community, and then turning around and saying it wasn't a financial issue, is ludicrous.
Buffalo needs guys like Pat LaFontaine not just to make us cheer in the sports arena, but to garner hope and morale in the public arena. There are things more important than money. The Sabres certainly did not lose money last year -- why are they crying poverty?
