Dr. Cuthbert Simpkins, a trauma surgeon at Erie County Medical Center, will discuss solutions to violence during a "UB at Sunrise" meeting at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Center for Tomorrow on the University at Buffalo's North Campus in Amherst.
Simpkins, an associate professor of surgery at UB, founded an unusual victims-of-violence program at the medical center, which helps victims not only on physical but also on social and psychological levels.
A Harvard Medical School graduate, Simpkins came to the medical center in 1994 after serving tours in trauma centers in Brooklyn, Boston, Baltimore and Washington, D.C.
"UB at Sunrise" is a series of breakfast programs sponsored by the UB Alumni Association and other offices at the university. For tickets or more information, call the UB Alumni Association.
