A Fredonia teen-ager was sent to Chautauqua County Jail Thursday night after he allegedly punched his father during an argument over use of the telephone.

Sheriff's officers were called to the Michael Cerrie home on Berry Road about 9:30 p.m. Deputies said Cerrie had asked his son Jeffrey, 17, to hang up the phone, when the son got angry.

Jeffrey reportedly smashed the phone, threw chairs around the house and smashed one of them, then struggled with his father and punched him in the face. Cerrie, 43, also suffered a shoulder injury.

Jeffrey was charged with third-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal mischief. He was jailed in lieu of $2,000 bail.
