Amherst police are following credit-card clues to track a male suspect wanted in connection with a Sept. 22 burglary at a Bassett Road residence.
Jewelry and credit cards were taken from the home, which was left under the care of a house-sitter while the owners were on vacation, police said.
Earlier this week, one of the stolen credit cards was used twice in Buffalo, at a Delaware Avenue auto parts store, police said.
Police are looking for the man who used the card, described by store employees as a white male, six feet tall and 165 pounds, between 32 and 35 years old, with gray hair. The man was not wearing glasses or a mustache, police said.
The first time the man used the stolen card, he was accompanied by a white male of about the same age, with brown hair, and a child about 5 years old.
The second time he used the card, the man was alone and fled when the card was denied approval, police said.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Amherst police.
