Firefighters from five counties were on the scene Friday night of a blaze that destroyed a small engine repair shop in the Genesee County Hamlet of Byron, sheriff's deputies said.

The fire was reported at 6:10 p.m. at Van Buren's Sales & Service at 7546 Route 237, a three-story wood structure. Late Friday, the fire was under control, but firefighters remained at the scene.

No injuries were reported, deputies said.

Firefighters representing 23 companies from Genesee, Orleans, Livingston, Monroe and Wyoming counties were involved in various capacities, deputies said.
