While the Harmony Town Board is considering a zoning ordinance, a number of residents have turned out against the proposal.
A citizens committee against zoning circulated petitions against the plan, then presented Supervisor Joseph Edwards with 451 signatures Wednesday night from zoning opponents. The committee said it heard from only 28 people in favor of zoning.
"Over the years, we have heard from a number of residents requesting zoning but we will take these petitions into account when we make a decision," board member Bill Lawson said.
A third and final public hearing on the zoning proposal is scheduled for Oct. 16 in Panama Central School.
