A section of Saunders Settlement Road was closed for five hours Thursday after almost 200 gallons of diesel fuel leaked onto the roadway from a truck's fuel tank after the truck and a car collided head-on at 3:02 p.m., town Patrolman Ellis Delahoy said.

The fuel was cleaned up by Modern Disposal, Delahoy said.

The car driven by Robert Joseph, 25, of Niagara Avenue, Niagara Falls, ran head-on into the truck driven by Paramjeet Singh Pabla, 40, of Brampton, Ont., in front of 1307 Saunders Settlement Road, Delahoy said.

Joseph said he fell asleep and his car crossed over into the oncoming lane and hit the truck head-on. Joseph was released after treatment in Mount St. Mary's Hospital for an ear laceration and was charged with failure to keep right. Pabla was not injured, Delahoy said.
