Carol Marie Von of Hamburg, sales director of the Days Inn on Genesee Street in Cheektowaga, died Tuesday (Sept. 30, 1997) in Sisters Hospital after a brief illness. She was 53.
Born in Buffalo, Miss Von graduated from Bishop Quigley High School and attended the University at Buffalo. She was raised in South Buffalo and moved to the Southtowns 20 years ago.
A member of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church in Orchard Park, she taught Confraternity of Christian Doctrine classes, sang with the church choir and was active with the Cursillo movement. She also took part in the annual Kingdom Bound revival at Darien Lake and was involved in interfaith hospitality for the homeless.
Her hobbies were horses and whale watching.
Survivors include a son, Jack K. Stewart; a daughter, Michelle R. Fisher of Randolph; a sister, Frances J. McCormick of Mechanic Falls, Maine; two brothers, Robert V. Von of West Seneca and James J. Von of Charlotte, N.C.; and five grandchildren.
Prayers at 10:45 a.m. Saturday in F.E. Brown Sons Funeral Home, 6575 E. Quaker St., Orchard Park, will precede a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 in Nativity of Our Lord Church, 26 Thorn Ave., Orchard Park. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
