A lock-down continues at Attica Correctional Facility, where four corrections officers were injured Tuesday afternoon in a mess hall disturbance.
The lock-down is "probably going to run through the weekend," Mike Houston, a spokesman for the state Department of Correctional Services, said Wednesday.
Cellblocks and common areas at the facility are being searched for contraband, he said.
About 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, an inmate attacked a corrections officer with his hands, and three more inmates tried to join in, authorities said. About 270 inmates were in the mess hall at the time.
Prison officials quelled the incident by releasing a chemical agent similar to tear gas.
The four injured officers were treated for cuts, bumps and bruises at a nearby hospital.
