A shared services committee working on ways the City of Jamestown and Chautauqua County can consolidate operations to save money has labeled emergency dispatching as its top priority.

"We unanimously agreed (Tuesday) to ask the County Legislature and the City Council to resolve that their 911 systems be consolidated in Chautauqua County, and that they appoint an implementation team to carry out that resolution," said Michael Lyons, committee chairman.

Lyons said Legislature and Council members on the panel all favor the move. The City Council already has approved a resolution that says the 911 systems should be consolidated at the county level.
