A representative from Starbucks Coffee will speak about the company's planned Elmwood Avenue shop and answer questions during a public meeting of the Elmwood Task Force at 7 p.m. Monday in the Campus West School auditorium on the Buffalo State College campus.
Starbucks has been the target of a petition campaign among Elmwood Avenue businesses since the company announced two weeks ago that it wants to build a coffee shop and training facility in a vacant lot at 931 Elmwood. The site is less than 50 yards away from a local coffee shop, Cafe Aroma.
Starbucks' proposed first city outlet will also be the focus of a community meeting at 7:30 tonight in the Unitarian Universalist Church of Buffalo, 695 Elmwood, sponsored by Forever Elmwood.
Although tonight's meeting has been billed as a panel discussion on community-based planning, the hot topic will be the chain's announcement of the store and training center.
