With plans drawn up nearly three decades ago to develop a Chautauqua County park in the Town of Carroll, a move is under way to get the project off the ground. Tuesday night, the County Legislature's Environmental Committee approved a request for a $50,000 state grant to help fund the Oak Hill Overlook Park project.

"There would be no money out of the county's current budget for this project," said Legislator J. Norman Herby, R-Jamestown, committee chairman. "The local share would come from funds already in hand and a member item from State Sen. Jess Present" R-Bemus Point.

The 73.7-acre site, one of the highest in Chautauqua County, will include hiking trails and a picnic area.
