Two Lackawanna residents were injured when their car ended up on its side in the eastbound lanes of the Thruway in West Seneca at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Thruway State Police said a car driven by David E. Grooms, 37, of Wilmuth Street swerved to avoid hitting a car in front of him that had slowed down in traffic. Grooms' car ended up on its right side, blocking the center and passing lanes. He and a passenger, Tammy Anano, 21, also of Wilmuth Street, were pulled from the car and taken to Our Lady of Victory Hospital for treatment of injuries not considered to be life-threatening. Both were cited for failure to wear seat belts; Grooms also was cited for an unsafe lane change.
