A member of the board of directors of the Lackawanna Municipal Housing Authority has resigned to accept a job with the authority.
Joanne Paturzo has been named a tenant relations assistant on a provisional basis pending her passing a Civil Service test, authority Executive Director Charles Barone Jr. said Tuesday.
The vacancy arose due to a retirement, and Ms. Paturzo is well qualified from years of working for a tax preparation firm, Barone said. The job involves rent calculations and social services payments. The annual salary is $29,525.
"She approached me about it several months ago, and I was glad to give her the job," Barone said. "My knowledge of her due to her being on the board certainly didn't hurt."
Mayor Kathleen M. Staniszewski said she has named Frank Amrozowicz, a retiree and former First Ward councilman, to the remainder of Ms. Paturzo's term, expiring Nov. 15, 1999. The seven-member board serves without salary. Five members are appointed by the mayor, and two are elected by tenants.
