In men's tennis, Jordan May, a sophomore from Niagara Falls, posted a 6-1, 6-2 win at fourth singles as Niagara (3-5) nipped Canisius, 4-3, in a match played indoors at the Buffalo Hilton.

Detroit and Washington will be awarded WNBA expansion teams, and the two franchises are already fighting over which one will be awarded ABL defector Nikki McCray, according to Associated Press. The franchises will be officially announced today.

Heavyweight boxer Oliver McCall was cleared to return to the ring while the courts debate the fate of the $3 million purse that has been withheld since he broke down and cried in the ring against Lennox Lewis. McCall wasn't expected to be allowed to fight again until at least next February, under a conditional settlement that called for him to be suspended for a year and fined $250,000 for his bizarre actions Feb. 7.
