Mary Fabro, known in Fredonia as the "Strawberry Lady of Temple Street," died Sunday (Sept. 28, 1997) in Brooks Memorial Hospital, Dunkirk, after a brief illness. She was 79.
Born in Fredonia, the former Mary Gullo attended local schools and was a graduate of Fredonia High School.
She was a homemaker and operated a fruit and vegetable business with her husband, Ezio "Eddie," at their Temple Street home for many years. They were members of the National Grape Co-op. He died in 1994.
Surviving are a daughter, Barbara of Lake Placid, and a brother, Samuel Gullo of Jamestown.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Cushing and Orchard streets. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery.
