James E. Swain, 46, of North Eighth Street, a shop steward at Nabisco Brands Inc. in Niagara Falls for the past 22 years, died Monday (Sept. 29, 1997) in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center after being stricken with a heart attack at work.

He was born in Niagara Falls, attended Lewiston-Porter Central Schools and was a graduate of Trott Vocational High School.

An avid sportsman, Swain was a member of the National Rifle Association.

Survivors include four daughters, Colleen R. Pontillo of Depew, Taunya L. Fitzgerald of Niagara Falls, and Kellie Ann and Jamie Crista Swain ; his mother, Vera M. Swain of Niagara Falls; a brother, David M. of Rochester; three grandchildren; and a dear friend, Renee Riordan.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Rhoney Funeral Home, Cayuga and South Ninth streets. Burial will be in Acacia Park Cemetery, Pendleton.
