Country meets classical tonight on the campaign trail for Amherst town supervisor.

The challenger, Republican Council Member William L. Kindel, is serving fresh-picked corn, homemade chowder and "many more old-time food favorites" from 5 to 8 p.m. in the main barn at Spoth Farms on Tonawanda Creek Road, one mile east of Campbell Boulevard. The fund-raiser costs $30 per person.

Meanwhile, it's cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and a concert by renowned cellist and conductor Arie Lipsky in the Ellicott Room at the University Inn and Conference Center, 2401 North Forest Road, where Democratic Supervisor Susan J. Grelick and running mate Daniel A. Longo, a Town Board candidate, will hold a fund-raiser from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $50.
