POP MUSIC NOTES

Reba McEntire and Brooks & Dunn will turn Buffalo into a little bit of country at 8 p.m. Friday in Marine Midland Arena. McEntire has sold nearly 40 million albums with her pop country sound. Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn also have been near the top of the country charts this decade.

Luther Vandross and Vanessa Williams will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the arena. Williams, a former Miss America, presents a soulful and sultry singing style. Vandross has been one of the master vocalists of the past 15 years with his smooth singing voice.

Moxy Fruvous will play alternative sounds when the rock band performs at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the Tralfamadore Cafe, 100 Theatre Place. Moxy Fruvous is a Canadian band with a huge Buffalo following and remains popular with modern-rock fans.

Pavement will bring its modern, indie-rock guitar sound to a 9 p.m. show Saturday in the Ogden Street Concert Hall, 652 S. Ogden St.

Queen Bee and the Blue Hornet Band will play at 10 p.m. Saturday in the Lafayette Tap Room, 391 Washington St. The band comes from Pennsylvania and features down-home, rocking urban blues to create a party atmosphere. Lead singer Tonya Browne is the Queen Bee.
