The Town of Busti will get a new park.
What has been known as Vukote Park will be tripled in size and renamed the Busti Town Park at Loomis Bay.
"This project really started when the Edward Loomis estate came to (the town) a few years ago asking to have some water lines installed, and it became clear that once those lines were installed we would have a need for and an opportunity to develop our town park," Supervisor Dale Robbins said.
The park will be bound by Vukote Road, Loomis Bay Road, state Route 394 and a new road that has yet to be named.
During a meeting with a citizens committee on Saturday, Gary Yager, a Town Board member, presented a preliminary design by Rod Drake of Habiterra Associates.
The plans call for two parking areas, five soccer fields and public restrooms. The committee also wants the playground enlarged, a tennis court, picnic pavilion and a walking trail and lighting.
"This should be a great opportunity for recreational activity in that area for a long time to come," Robbins said.
No costs have been estimated, but Robbins said the town will seek grants to help pay for the park.
