John A. Cecala, 68, of Orchard Park, former owner of John Anthony's Restaurant in Lockport, died Friday (Sept. 26, 1997) in Hospice Buffalo's Mitchell Campus in Cheektowaga after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Buffalo and graduated from Lafayette High School.
He opened John Anthony's Restaurant in Lockport in 1983 and operated it until his retirement in 1993.
Before that, he managed restaurants at the Stadium Post near the former War Memorial Stadium, the Charter House in Amherst, the Buffalo Trap & Field Club in Cheektowaga, Brookfield Country Club in Clarence and the Tuscarora Club in Lockport.
Survivors include his wife, the former Carol Ulrich; three daughters, Carol Rohring of Wilson, Wendy Dowdrey of Boxford, Mass., and Susan Scarano of Mahwah, N.J.; a son, Craig Stephens of Orchard Park; two sisters, Josephine Cataldo of Atlanta and Anna Marie Snell of Wilson; a brother, Joseph P. of Holland; and a granddaughter.
A Memorial Mass will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Nativity of Our Lord Church, 26 Thorn Ave., Village of Orchard Park.
