A Depew man was killed Saturday night when his speeding motorcycle hit a car broadside on Walden Avenue near Genesee Street in the Town of Alden.
Lawrence Mrozek, 45, of River Street, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Erie County medical examiner.
He was driving west on Walden and had just passed three cars at 6:30 p.m. at a high rate of speed when he hit the side of an eastbound car that was turning into a gas station, Erie County sheriff's deputies said.
They said the setting sun may have made it difficult for Mrozek to see.
The driver of the car, Mark W. Cater, 37, of Lockport, was treated at Erie County Medical Center for head and neck injuries.
