Donald R. Hilmey, 66, a retired electrician and member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 41, died unexpectedly Friday (Sept. 26, 1997).
A lifelong resident of Buffalo, Hilmey was a member of the Riverside Baseball School Championship team in 1946 and 1947. He was also a member of the Red Brick Social Club of South Buffalo and the Holy Name Society at St. Agatha's Catholic Church.
Hilmey was a summer resident of Hanford Bay and belonged to the Hanford Bay Community Club.
During the Korean War, Hilmey served in the Philippines and played baseball for the Navy.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, the former Katherine Ford; three daughters, Joanne Collen, Elizabeth Catanzarro and Mary Katherine; four sons, Matthew, Michael, Mark and Patrick; a brother, Russell; a sister, Carol Siwek of Wales; and four grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Agatha's Church, 65 Abbott Road. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lackawanna.[ulrch]
