D.A. DOESN'T DESERVE ANY CREDIT IN KEVIN KING CASE

It is quite amusing to see Cattaraugus County District Attorney Michael Nevins trying to take credit for the recent guilty verdict in the death of Kevin King.

The reality is his mishandling of the initial grand jury investigation resulted in a failure to indict, requiring the victim's brother, Randy King, and several legislators to fight to keep the matter alive. Had it not been for the public outcry, the district attorney would have buried the case.

To make matters worse, any justice that was obtained was obtained by an outside agency, without any help from him. In fact, Nevins did not involve himself in any way with the trial, except to make certain he was around when newspaper photographers were present.
