The Buffalo Sabres play the Carolina Hurricanes in a preseason game in Marine Midland Arena tonight at 7:30.

The University at Buffalo hosts West Chester in college football today at 1:30 at UB Stadium.

The first-place Buffalo Gladiators (9-1) host the Batavia Bandits (5-3) at 3 p.m. today at Lackawanna High School in a New York Football League playoff game. In the International Football League, the first-place Lockport Invaders (8-1) host the Rochester Renegades (1-6) at 7 tonight at Outwater Park.

Lancaster Speedway will cap its racing season with its annual U.S. Open weekend. Heats start at 6:30 p.m. and 25-lap Strictly Stock and Midget races cap the evening. Sunday, the New York State Modified Series joins the card. Non-qualifier races start at noon; modified heats are at 1 p.m. with all features to follow.

Coverage of the Ryder Cup, which matches teams of golfers from the United States and Europe, starts today at noon and Sunday at 8 a.m. on Channel 2.

The Bills are off this week, so Buffalo fans are going to make do with some less than glittering games Sunday to satisfy their football cravings. Among the top games are the Green Bay Packers at the Detroit Lions at 1 p.m. on Channel 29 and the Philadelphia Eagles at the Minnesota Vikings at 8 p.m. on TNT.

There is no let-up in sight for foundering Notre Dame, which faces Michigan today at 3:30 p.m. on Channel 7.
