Fire prevention and home safety will be highlighted from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday when the Bellevue Fire Company, 511 Como Park Boulevard, Cheektowaga, holds its annual open house.

The free event will feature special demonstrations by the Cheektowaga Police K-9 unit, drug unit and special apparatus used by area fire companies when they rescue accident victims from automobiles and extinguish automobile fires.

State troopers, the Erie County Sheriff's Department and the Buffalo Airport Fire Rescue Unit are also scheduled to be on hand along with other area emergency response vehicles and agencies. Refreshments will be available along with ballons and door prizes, and a raffle for a 12-speed mountain bicycle will be held.
