A South Avenue man told police on Friday that two men, one armed with a handgun, robbed him of $110 Thursday evening in a house in the 300 block of 12th Street, Officer Jacqueline Weigel said.

David Winkfield, 35, said he went to a friend's home at 6 p.m. Thursday and entered despite the friend not being present, Officer Weigel said.

Two men grabbed him, threw him to the floor and emptied his pockets of the cash as one man waved a small black pistol at him. He told police he suffered a bruised shoulder, swelling to the right temple and an injured left knee.

Winkfield said he waited to report the robbery because he initially had hoped to find a way to resolve the matter himself.
