As Jamal Lyons sat in a car parked along Reed Street Thursday night, someone fired at least three shots into him from a .22-caliber rifle.
Lyons, 21, of Rich Street underwent surgery in Erie County Medical Center late Thursday night. He was listed in fair condition today.
Police said they suspect the shooting is linked to drug dealing.
Lt. Mark Taggart of the Broadway Station said as many as three people -- one a drug suspect -- were in the car when Lyons was shot about 8:45 p.m.
Lyons ran to a nearby corner store and police were called.
Inspector Daniel Redmond said Lyons was shot in the lower left side, and police were concerned because there were no apparent exit wounds.
