A Catholic priest was arrested Wednesday by the Niagara Regional Police Sexual Assault Unit in connection with an incident that happened more than 15 years ago, it was reported Thursday.
The Rev. James Kneale, 42, is charged with one count of sexual assault stemming from an incident in 1980 or 1981 involving a 17-year-old Thorold boy in the rectory of St. Michael's Church in Fort Erie, where Father Kneale was parish priest at the time.
Father Kneale was arrested July 10 on five counts of sexual assault involving a Fort Erie boy between 1983 and 1985. A preliminary hearing on these charges will be held Jan. 20 in Welland Provincial Court.
