HAZEL E. GROVER, NURSE, CO-OWNER OF RESTAURANT

Hazel E. "Billie" Grover, a registered nurse at Wyoming County Community Hospital for many years and the co-owner of a restaurant in Attica, died Thursday (Sept. 25, 1997) in Wyoming County Community Hospital. She was 83.

Mrs. Grover, a Linwood Avenue resident, was born in Gates and was a longtime resident of Warsaw.

The former Hazel Ford was a graduate of West High School in Rochester. She graduated in 1935 from Park Avenue Hospital School of Nursing in Rochester. She worked on the staff at St. Jerome's Hospital in Batavia for a year.

She spent most of her nursing career at Wyoming County Community Hospital, where she worked for 22 years.

She and her husband, the late John L. "Jack" Grover, opened Grover's Restaurant in Attica in 1934 and operated it until 1953. Grover died in 1995.

Mrs. Grover was a member of St. Michael's Church in Warsaw and a charter member of the Genesee Valley Women's Bowling Association.

Survivors include a sister, Alice M. Ford.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Michael's Catholic Church, North Main Street. Prayers will be said at 9:30 in Weeks Funeral Home, 123 N. Main St. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery. [Allen].
