More than 45 Buffalo gardens, both business and residential, will be recognized at the Buffalo in Bloom awards ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Buffalo & Erie County Historical Society, 25 Nottingham Court.

The Lancaster Garden Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Lancaster Municipal Building. Elly Schmidt, a member of the National Herb Society of America, will give a program on Victorian herbal tea.

The Williamsville Garden Club will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday at the home of Gloria Gannon, 110 Fruitwood Terrace, Williamsville, to carpool to the Niagara Falls, Ont., Botanical Gardens and Butterfly Conservatory.

The Orchard Park Garden Club will meet at noon Thursday at the Orchard Park Presbyterian Church. David Keller of Wildflowers and Co. will present a program, "Creative Inspirations," using exotic and natural materials to create a floral design.

The Greenhouse at Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara will hold a floral design class at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the agency's day treatment center, 2510 Niagara Falls Blvd., Wheatfield. Participants will receive instruction and materials to create a fresh floral design, a dried fall flower arrangement and a corsage. The class costs $29.95 per person; call Bob Bracikowski, 731-5133, to register.

To receive one free packet (10 to 12 seeds) of sunflower seeds for an old-fashioned variety that grows 8 to 20 feet tall, plus growing hints and ideas, send a long, self-addressed, double-stamped envelope to Sunflower Farm, P.O. Box 629, Burgin, Ky. 40310. The seeds are available this fall, while supplies last; they should be saved for planting next spring.
