PIOTR WOLANCZYK, POLISH WORLD WAR II VETERAN

A Memorial Mass for Piotr Wolanczyk, 87, a native of Poland, will be offered at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Adalbert's Catholic Church, 212 Stanislaus St.

Wolanczyk died May 23, 1997, in Veterans Hospital in Batavia after a long illness.

He served with the 14th Lancers from 1930 to 1932 and then fought with the First Polish Division during World War II from Normandy until the war's end.

In 1951, he and his family moved to Buffalo, and he joined Curtiss-Wright Aircraft Co. as a machine and tool oiler. He retired after 17 years in 1972.

He and the former Alexandra Skibicki, who died in 1995, were married 55 years.

Survivors include two daughters, Anna Mazella of Buffalo, and Christine Fialkiewicz of Lancaster; a son, John of Northport, L.I.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
