Florence J. Purvis, 58, a retired personal health care attendant, died Wednesday (Sept. 24, 1997) in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst, after a long illness.
A native of Utica, the former Florence J. Coughlin lived in Ransomville for 25 years. Mrs. Purvis was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
She worked as a personal care attendant at the Newfane Health Facility for 23 years until she retired in 1995. She was an avid bowler and dancer and enjoyed needlework and playing cards.
Mrs. Purvis lived in Dorwood Park before she moved to Edwards Avenue in Newfane a year ago.
Survivors include a son, Ted of Amherst; a daughter, Kelly of West Seneca; and a sister, Catherine Koscinski of Utica.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday in Immaculate Conception Church, 4671 Townline Road (Route 429), after prayers at 9:15 in Hardison Funeral Homes Inc., 3648 Ransomville Road. Burial will be in North Ridge Cemetery, Cambria.
