CHAUTAUQUA LAKE HOTEL EYED

A proposal to build a four-story hotel on Chautauqua Lake is being considered by the village Zoning Board of Appeals.

Developers James and Sally Webb, who currently operate Webb's Captain's Table restaurant and hotel in Mayville, want to put the larger facility on the site of the former Turner Lumber Co. on Route 394.

Webb said the new hotel would compliment the historic century-old railroad station on an adjoining piece of property.

"We would like it to conform, architecturally, with the depot building," Webb said.

The hotel would have 50 to 60 units on 1.25 acres of prime lakefront land. The Zoning Board of Appeals is expected to decide on the issue within the next two months.
