VOLUNTEERS SOUGHT TO PUT UP PLAYGROUND

North Tonawanda Alderwoman Mary Lou Pieper, a teacher at Meadow Elementary School, is looking for a few good men -- and women.

As chairwoman of the Meadow School Playground Committee, Mrs. Pieper is having trouble finding volunteers to help set up $30,000 in new playground equipment at the school this weekend.

"Everybody is either on vacation or busy," she said.

Volunteers are needed any time between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

"They will get lunch," Mrs. Pieper said.

Raised in North Tonawanda, Mrs. Pieper attended Meadow School as a girl. Now she's a fourth grade teacher there.

She asks that volunteers meet her in front of the school at 455 Meadow Drive, between North Tonawanda High School and the Public Library.
