Ruth M. Dennis, 79, of North Collins, a Buffalo native who played the accordion and later the organ for the USO during World War II and for nightclubs in the Buffalo area for many years, died Tuesday (July 29, 1997) in Gowanda Nursing Home after a long illness.

Survivors include her husband of 47 years, William J.; three daughters, Suzanne R. Venneman of Arcade, Kathleen L. of Gowanda and Judith A. Capodicasa; three sons, William J. Jr. of Derby, Michael E. of North Colins and David J. Wright of Arcade; two sisters, Mary Ann Bettinger of North Collins and Lorraine Shaffer of Springville; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Schindler Funeral Home, 44 Center St., Gowanda. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in New Oregon.
