Some of rock's biggest stars will perform at a benefit concert in London on Sept. 11 to raise money for the volcano-ravaged Caribbean island of Montserrat, the Evening Standard reported Wednesday.
Eric Clapton, Elton John, former Beatle Paul McCartney, Sting and Dire Straits frontman Mark Knopfler have agreed to perform.
Beatles producer George Martin, who has a luxury home on the island, is organizing the concert at London's Royal Albert Hall and hopes to raise at least $800,000.
Montserrat, a tiny British territory in the eastern Caribbean, has been devastated by natural disasters over the past decade. Its population has dwindled to around 5,800 from about 11,000 two years ago.
