"Marvin's Room" was honored with the grand prize at the Moscow International Film Festival, and producer Robert De Niro collected his own accolades.
De Niro won a special award Tuesday for outstanding contributions to the film industry, as did Sophia Loren, Catherine Deneuve, Gina Lollobrigida and Russian director Andrei Konchakovsky.
The awards were announced at closing ceremonies of the 10-day festival, which was criticized for its $6 million price tag amid Moscow's ongoing economic crisis.
The Golden St. George prize for Best Film went to "Marvin's Room," the story of sisters, played by Diane Keaton and Meryl Streep, and tense family relations surrounding the care of their aging father. Jerry Zaks directed the film.
