Francis D. Myers, 73, of Pletcher Road, a retired social worker, died Tuesday (July 29, 1997) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital after apparently suffering a heart attack.
A lifelong resident of Lewiston, Myers attended Stella Niagara Academy and was a graduate of Youngstown High School. He served in Europe with the Army Medical Corps during World War II.
Myers worked in the medical assistance section of the Erie County Department of Social Services for 25 years until he retired in 1985. He was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Youngstown; Lake Ontario Post 313, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Youngstown; and the Niagara County auxiliary police.
He enjoyed gardening and working with animals and was an avid history fan.
Survivors include his wife, the former Margaret Capitan; two sons, Kevin Myers of Niagara Falls and Brian Myers of Livermore, Calif.; five daughters, Cynthia Kean of Lockport, Claudia Keeler and Margaret Myers, both of Greenwich, Conn., Paulette Salmon of Ithaca and Donna Kates of Jupiter, Fla.; a brother, David of Jupiter; and five grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Second and Hinman streets, Youngstown, with prayers at 9:15 in Hardison Funeral hOmes Inc., North Fourth and Ridge streets. Burial will be private.
