A memorial service for Norris Thomas Barber, 73, a Buffalo native who made the U.S. Navy his career, will be held at 11 a.m. Aug. 11 in First Baptist Church in Hopewell, Va.
Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 12 in Arlington National Cemetery.
He died July 19, 1997, in Columbia Hospital, Chester, Va., after suffering a heart attack at his home in Chester. Barber's Navy career included service during World War II. He was a member of the Hopewell church.
Survivors include his wife, Anna of Chester; two sons, Steve of Charleston, W.Va., and Martin of Annandale, Va.; a daughter, Norene Martinson of Oxnard, Calif.; four sisters, Gertrude Thomas of Los Angeles, and Johanna Pietruzka, Marietta Wenneman and Alcinda Stantron, all of Buffalo; and a brother, Harvey of Erie, Pa.
