Services for Harry Dobkin, 84, Buffalo native and retired buyer for the former Sample department stores of Buffalo, were held Friday in Valley Memorial Park.
Dobkin died July 21, 1997, in his home in Novato.
He moved to Novato in 1977 following his retirement from Sample. In 1971, he was the recipient of the Retailer of the Year Award in New York and honored for his integrity in retail merchandising practices.
Dobkin also had been cited for his endeavors in the training and development of minorities operating small businesses.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, the former Marion Herr; two sons, Bill of San Francisco and Bruce of Novato; and two grandchildren.
