A Mass of Christian Burial for George E. Gahr, 66, a Niagara Mohawk employee for 45 years until his recent retirement, will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 301 E. Main St.
Prayers will be said at 9 in Bohm-Smith Funeral Home, 308 E. Main. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Mausoleum.
Gahr, a native of Pennsylvania, died Monday (July 28, 1997) in Genesee Memorial Hospital after apparently suffering a heart attack during a church outing.
He was involved in many activities at St. Joseph's Church, including serving as an Eucharistic minister, and was a volunteer worker at the Batavia Veterans Hospital. He was a member and former steward of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers local.
Survivors include his wife, the former Mary Joyce De Bottis; two daughters, Linda S. Orton of Smithville, Mo., and Rita; two sons, George E. Jr. of Deer Park, and Thomas C. of Fridley, Minn.; a sister, Gloria Pavicich of the Town of Tonawanda; and five grandchildren.
