Work is expected to begin next month on the county-owned Crittenden Road Bridge spaning the Thruway in the southern part of Newstead.
Crews plan to close the bridge for repairs Aug. 11, according to a spokesman for the Thruway Authority. The road repair project is expected to be completed in mid-November.
Details of the project were worked out during a recent preconstruction meeting with town officials and representatives of both the state Department of Transportation and Thruway Authority. The improvements will include a new deck and concrete road replacement.
