Genesee County's 8 percent sales tax will remain for at least another two years.
The Legislature Monday night unanimously approved a two-year extension of the added one percent local levy. The home-rule bill had been approved last week by the State Legislature and Gov. Pataki.
The Legislature had faced a Friday deadline to renew the tax, which would have dropped back to 7 percent.
The county's share is being used to fund the new courthouse and other capital projects, and relieve debt service for earlier work.
