BOY, 7, TESTS POSITIVE FOR E. COLI INFECTION

A 7-year-old boy was hospitalized in critical condition with a confirmed case of E. coli infection, health officials said Tuesday.

Steven R. Londerville, of Clayton, was in the pediatric intensive care unit at State University Health Science Center in Syracuse, where he has been a patient for the last week.

E. coli is a bacteria that can produce toxins in the body, causing severe diarrhea and kidney damage.
