Fred Batchelor has been named a full-time assistant coach with the University at Buffalo basketball program.

Batchelor, who coached at Turner/Carroll High School, Villa Maria College and Buffalo State before joining UB's staff last season as a part-time administrative assistant, replaces Tim Maloney, who has left the Bulls to take a job on the men's basketball staff at the University of Florida.

Batchelor will be coordinator of recruiting, along with his on-court responsibilities. Since 1992, he has served as a community relations specialist for Western New York United Against Drug and Alcohol Abuse.

"Fred adds a lot of enthusiasm for the game and has a great commitment to our student-athletes," said UB head coach Tim Cohane.
