POLE FIRE BRINGS POWER OUTAGE IN FALLS

Electricity was out for nearly two hours in the Linwood-Pierce Avenue area Monday after a pole fire at 11th Street and Linwood Avenue damaged three feeder lines, Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. spokesman Steven Brady said.

The outage lasted from 4:10 to 5:52 p.m., Brady reported. Police said a wire was sparking against a utility pole, triggering a rash of false burglar alarms as far west as Main Street.

Niagara Mohawk crews worked into the evening
repairing the wires.
