MEDICAL ALERT LIFTED FOR MIR CAPTAIN

Russia's mission control Monday lifted all medical restrictions on the commander of the Mir space station, whose heart problems helped delay needed repairs aboard the orbiting spaceship.

Commander Vasily Tsibliyev will continue to take some medication but no longer is restricted to low-stress physical activity, said Valery Lyndin, a spokesman for the Russian Space Agency.

The two cosmonauts aboard Mir prepared Monday for their Aug. 14 homecoming, while U.S. astronaut Michael Foale worked on scientific experiments.
