HEARING SET ON RETIREMENT PLAN

A public hearing on a retirement incentive for Allegany County employees is scheduled for 2 p.m. Aug. 11.

The incentive would add one month of service to an eligible employee's length of service for each year worked.

Legislator Kenneth Nielsen, R-Houghton, chairman of the Personnel Committee, introduced the law and the resolution establishing the hearing for the next Legislature meeting.

Office for the Aging site managers, drivers and aides are in line for pay increases following a Legislature resolution Monday. Nielsen's committee offered the resolution to reflect a change in the minimum wage effective Sept. 10. Site managers and drivers, who organize and deliver or provide meals for senior citizens in central locations, will start at $5.15 per hour with a top rate of $7.15 per hour after eight years. Aides are to be paid the new minimum wage, $5.15 per hour.
